CITY STRINGS |
|||
| We intend to build relationships
with families through music education. We aim, with the active participation
of the parent(s), to instill confidence in the students, develop their
communication skills, teach them to set and achieve their goals, and challenge
them to go further in life than what society may present to them as their
future. The program, which began with 2 students in February 2002, now has 20 students and provides violin, viola, and cello lessons to children from north Aurora. The students and their parents attend a weekly private lesson with their teacher and an additional group class each week with other children of similar ages and ability levels. |

| City Strings provides opportunities in music that are not otherwise available to children in this community. Lessons are made financially accessible to all families and mentors are provided for children whose parents cannot commit to attending these lessons, therefore providing transportation and support. The vision of City Strings is to foster a love and appreciation for music, instill confidence, develop communication skills with each child, and challenge them to set and achieve their goals, thus encouraging self-motivation. We are building relationships with these families, parents and children together, encouraging them to seek the truth in all that they encounter. We are building strong relationships within the group of families, helping each other, and spending time together. |
