The Story behind Carol’s Artwork

Music is a magical way to communicate, to share emotions, intentions and meanings, and has a way of portraying anything is possible. I believe birds also share some of this magic and I chose to add birds to my music stand. A bird’s voice and they way it communicates, is often called a “song”. Composers have interpreted bird songs as long as they have been writing music. Birds often have symbolic meanings and people believe in good intentions when birds cross their paths. Bluebirds represent joy and happiness and the color blue brings peace and keeps away negative energy.

Birds are also associated with flying high, which can symbolize achieving dreams and high goals. Birds can also be an inspiration that help overcome obstacles and allow for growth. Much like a person playing an instrument with freedom and passion, birds also represent freedom and possibility. Anything is possible and the birds are there to remind us of the ability to not only fly, but to SOAR.

I used a variety of mixed media in my piece including modeling paste, paint, clay, and paper. If you look closely, you can find music notes and words mixed among the grasses and birds.

Carol’s art can be found at the Parson’s Theater.
