Kurt Ochsner

Kurt Ochsner is the Principal Percussionist with the Stratus Chamber Orchestra. He holds degrees in both Journalism and Music Performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he studied percussion with Mark Foster. He has also received coaching from Colorado Symphony Orchestra percussionists John Kinzie and William (Bill) Hill.

In addition to performing with Stratus Chamber Orchestra and other local orchestras, Kurt performs in a percussion and piano duo with his wife Janet, plays drums with the Fat City Mardi Gras Band, and plays jazz vibraphone with the band Corrupter. He also works frequently as a show drummer/percussionist in local musical theater productions, and in that capacity he has played for more than 100 shows, including on national and international tours with the Tabor Opera Company and Celebrity Cruises.

Besides performing, Kurt has coached percussion students in the band programs of Boulder Valley Schools and Denver Public Schools, and he works for the USPS.
